GRASS Developer Summit 2025
Join Us for the GRASS Developer Summit 2025 at NC State!

The GRASS team is excited to announce the GRASS Developer Summit 2025, the main community meeting of the year! This 6-day event will bring together contributors, developers, power users, and geospatial enthusiasts to collaborate, code, document, and shape the future of GRASS.
What to Expect
- Sessions on development, documentation, and project strategy
- Sessions for first-time contributors
- Self-organized discussions shaped by attendees
- Dedicated time for coding, documentation, testing, and other contributions
Day-by-day focus areas:
- Day 1: Getting started – contributing via GitHub, making your first contribution
- Day 2: Writing GRASS tools, interfacing with QGIS
- Day 3: Non-coding contributions – documentation, translation, internationalization
- Day 4: Project vision, computational engine, lightning talks & reception at the Center for Geospatial Analytics
- Day 5: Project Steering Committee meeting, interfacing with R
- Day 6: NSF POSE project evaluation, contributor feedback, future planning
Flexible Participation: You’re welcome to join the sessions that match your interests and spend the rest of the time working on your own GRASS contributions. The event’s main language will be English, but with confirmed participants speaking eight other languages, collaboration in multiple languages is encouraged!
