The GRASS team is excited to announce the GRASS Developer Summit 2025, the main community meeting of the year! This 6-day event will bring together contributors, developers, power users, and geospatial enthusiasts to collaborate, code, document, and shape the future of GRASS.

What to Expect

  • Sessions on development, documentation, and project strategy
  • Sessions for first-time contributors
  • Self-organized discussions shaped by attendees
  • Dedicated time for coding, documentation, testing, and other contributions

Day-by-day focus areas:

  • Day 1: Getting started โ€“ contributing via GitHub, making your first contribution
  • Day 2: Writing GRASS tools, interfacing with QGIS
  • Day 3: Non-coding contributions โ€“ documentation, translation, internationalization
  • Day 4: Project vision, computational engine, lightning talks & reception at the Center for Geospatial Analytics
  • Day 5: Project Steering Committee meeting, interfacing with R
  • Day 6: NSF POSE project evaluation, contributor feedback, future planning

Flexible Participation: Youโ€™re welcome to join the sessions that match your interests and spend the rest of the time working on your own GRASS contributions. The eventโ€™s main language will be English, but with confirmed participants speaking eight other languages, collaboration in multiple languages is encouraged!
